PUBLIC COURT RECORDS
THE TIM CORBETT FILE
TIMOTHY J. CORBETT · COMMANDER, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY METRO HOMICIDE UNIT · OUTSIDE INVESTIGATOR, SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION
The police-tapes litigation: 2012–2026 · Corbett v. Sims: 71C01-2103-CT-000094 · SBCSC contract executed February 2, 2025
What this file is. This file is built out of court records, a published appellate opinion, the May 28, 2026 order that ended the police-tapes fight, a school-district contract, state licensing and business records, county payroll, and contemporaneous reporting — and nothing else. Every factual statement here is drawn from the documents and reporting cited on this page. The photograph above was published by WNDU alongside its interview with Corbett during the police-tapes controversy — this series publishes only pictures it can credit to a source.
What this file does not claim. Read this first. Tim Corbett has never been charged with a crime in any matter located for this file. The jailhouse-informant material in Section 4 is printed as what it is — allegation, made by a man who admits he lied under oath, denied on the record by the prosecutor’s office, and never found by any court. Whether Corbett’s voice is on the famous tapes at all is a question the public record contradicts itself on; this file prints every side of it and settles none of it (Section 1). And this file concerns Timothy J. Corbett of St. Joseph County, Indiana — no other person of a similar name.

Thirteen appointments. Six terminations for cause. Four waiver denials — every one of them in the training academy’s own ledger, and the departments kept hiring him anyway. This is the file that started the series: one officer’s whole career, in the government’s own paper.
